Born in The Soviet Union in a ballet family. Both, father and mother were dancing with Perm State Opera and Ballet Theatre. His father Igor Shesterikov was a soloist and had a success in character and dramatic roles. His mother Elena Kulagina was a well known prima ballerina in Russia and abroad. Now days they both teach in perm ballet school and theatre.
In 2002 right after graduating from The Perm Ballet School with highest grades he joined Perm State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Artur was dancing soloist and principal roles from a young age, touring a lot around the world with the company. In 2004 he got to the final round of international ballet competition “Arabesk” and received the “most talented dancer” prize.
In 2007 he was offered to join The Dutch National Ballet. Shortly after that he was promoted to principal dancer with the company. He also received “Alexandra Radius prize” for remarkable achievements.
Besides most of the classical ballets, Artur’s repertoire includes a lot of diverse works by famous choreographers such as George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Benjamin Millepied. He has also had the opportunity to work with Krzysztof Pastor, Hans Van Manen, John Neumeier, Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, Natalia Makarova, Diana Vishneva (as partner) ,Peter Wright and others.
Artur has appeared in a various worldwide gala performances, festivals and as a guest artist with different companies.
